Enzo follows a privileged teen (Eloy Pohu) who trades school for construction work and falls hard for his Ukrainian co-worker Vlad (Maksym Slivinskyi). It’s a tender, slow-burn romance.
Enzo premiered at the opening night selection of the Cannes Film Festival and is the final film from Laurent Cantet (The Class), who co-wrote the screenplay with Campillo and Gilles Marchland. The film follows a privileged teen, Enzo (Eloy Pohu) who trades school for construction work and falls hard for his Ukrainian co-worker Vlad (Maksym Slivinskyi), a Ukrainian migrant worker being compelled to return and join the war effort. It's tender and full of slow-burn desire, set against the backdrop of looming conflict. Think Call Me by Your Name, but with more cement dust and political weight. Enzo delicately explores the fragile space where romance, future, and identity are shaped, especially in times when the future itself feels impossible to grasp.
After the credits roll, stick around for live music at the bar and keep the party going.
