You can write whatever you want, not exclusively novels. You can work on your short story, your play, your fanfic, your screenplay, your poetry, your comic, your zine, your essay, your article, your nonfiction book, etc. It's all writing.
Silence isn't essential. If you need help with your work, like with word block or spelling and such, feel free to speak up and ask each other.
